Mikhail came to Australia in the year 2000 from Russia to study law and business at the University of Canberra. Having completed his undergraduate qualifications in 2004 and subsequent practical legal training, Mikhail became a qualified lawyer in 2005. Throughout 2005, while completing his postgraduate qualification, Mikhail was working part-time in a Canberra-based law firm. He was also tutoring law at the University of Canberra during that time and he continues to do so today. In July 2006, he became a full-time PhD student at ANCORS. Mikhail holds Bachelor of Business Administration, Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws degrees, as well as a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. His research interests include offshore oil and gas law, maritime and offshore security law, and marine environment pollution law.
Mikhail's PhD Thesis Title is: "Protecting Australia's Offshore Oil and Gas Infrastructure: Legal Aspects of the Offshore Security Regime in Australia ."
