Matthew Bannon

Master of Maritime Studies, ANCORS, UOW.

Public Service practitioner responsible for operational availability of
Customs marine fleet, including Bay-Class vessels, the contract vessels
Oceanic Viking, Triton and Ashmore Guardian and Customs River-Class
vessels.

Previous study includes a Bachelor of Business (Public Administration) from Northern Territory University where received the Attorney General's prize for law major and a Graduate Diploma in Public Policy and Management from Monash University;

Thesis topic based on building effective maritime policy with the underlying theme of capacity to enforce maritime policies;

Research interests are in prevention of illegal activity in the maritime environment including narcotic trafficking, weapons trafficking, piracy, illegal unreported and unregulated fishing (IUU) and people smuggling.
