Dr. Transform Aqorau is currently Deputy Director-General of the Honiara, Solomon Islands based Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency, a regional organisation that provides specialist legal, economics, fisheries management and technical advice to the 17 Pacific Island Countries and Territory on the management and conservation of the Western and Central Pacific Ocean's lucrative tuna resources. He has been Legal Adviser to the Solomon Islands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Legal Counsel to the Forum Fisheries Agency, and Legal Adviser to the Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat.
He was involved in the negotiations of the 1995 UN Fish Stocks Agreement. He has been actively involved in the negotiations of a number of regional fisheries agreements including the 2000 Convention for the Conservation and Management of Highly Migratory Fish Stocks in the Western and Cental Pacific. He has published articles on issues pertaining to fisheries management in the Pacific.
He has been a Senior Visiting Fellow of ANCORS since June 2006.
